Mike Cooper Appointed New Director of the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center

(Mountlake Terrace, WA) Mike Cooper, former Mayor of Edmonds, was approved on May 9th by the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center Board, as the new Executive Director for the Center. As Mike takes the helm, the Center is looking to expand its services and programs through grant opportunities and fundraising, as well as focusing marketing to the Baby Boomer generation.

Mike brings to the Center extensive community service experience and local knowledge. In addition to his stint as mayor of Edmonds, he has also served for over 25 years with the Shoreline Fire Department, four terms in the State House of Representatives and was elected to the Snohomish County Council. Mike was born in Sunnyside, Washington, has been married for 40 years and has three children and 4 grandchildren.

Mike Cooper, a retiree himself, is looking forward to the next chapter of his life with great excitement and anticipation at the opportunities the Center affords. Though the Center is small, there is a plan for growth and with 20 percent of the community’s population over the age of 55, he feels it’s an exciting time to serve the Center. The Center is Board is particularly interested in marketing the Center to the Baby Boom generation.

The Mountlake Terrace Senior Center provides facilities, services and activities for the recreational, intellectual, physical and mental needs of older adults in the community. The Center offer opportunities that help meet the cultural, leisure and aesthetic needs of seniors to create healthy, satisfying lives, build strong caring relationships and interact with their community in meaningful ways.
