Treatment and prevention of yeast infections

There is nothing more aggravating than dealing with a bothersome yeast infection. The good news is there are many things that can be done to prevent these pesky infections and there are also new yeast infection cures available to make feel women feel better fast.

What is a yeast infection anyway? It is a common infection that develops when too many yeast cells are growing in the vagina. When the natural balance of bacteria and yeast cells changes, there can be an overdevelopment of yeast and the infection occurs. The normal balance can be upset for several reasons including health issues such as diabetes, high estrogen levels caused by hormone replacement therapy, or even taking antibiotics. Many women experience yeast infections and although it is uncomfortable to deal with, luckily the treatment is simple.

You can purchase a yeast infection treatment without a prescription at your local drug store for use at home. These medicines come in a variety of forms including a suppository, antifungal cream, and even antifungal tablets, which are all effective yeast infection cures. Many women that have recurring yeast infections choose to seek the advice of their doctor and get a prescription for the yeast infection treatment.

To avoid the discomfort of these bothersome infections and having to deal with yeast infection cures, follow a few simple rules to prevent the yeast infection from occurring. A good rule is to make sure your genital area is as cool and dry as possible. Try to wear pants and panty hose that are loose fitting, and also wear cotton versus nylon underwear that “breathes” better. Also be sure to get out of that wet swimsuit as soon as possible to avoid a yeast infection. Women should also limit the use of douches, deodorant tampons, scented toilet paper, and feminine sprays, as these products can increase the chances of getting a yeast infection.
