Ralph Warner in 1991 at the Beach to Chowder Run on Washington’s Long Beach peninsula during a howling rainstorm. “The Beach to Chowder Run was known as the ‘World’s Longest Beach Run’ for many years until we realized that there were other beaches longer than ours,” writes Ralph. His last Beach to Chowder Run was in 2003 when he was 52 years old. “At that point I had decided to save my knees and feet for hiking, biking, and surfing.” He was the race director for the run from 2000 through 2017. “Over a period of some 20 years, my wife and I competed in well over 200 races. Lots of good memories."
