Like almost everyone else in this country, I am wired every day. Every morning, I pluck my hearing aids, iPhone and laptop from their respective charging stations. After I check to see what my Apple watch has to say about how I slept the night before, I snap it onto its little round charger so it will be ready to go by the time I am.
This is not to mention all the talking behind my back that goes on. My watch spills every step I take to my phone. I’m told that my hearing aids can get in on this game by tuning into my phone and watch and giving me loud notices when one of them needs attention. They also track me on a little map so my kids will be able to find me if I get lost. I guess one could say that I am plugged into the world.
CURRENTLY
My smart watch and my phone converse.
Is this a blessing or a curse?
I’m monitored both night and day.
My sleep is rated yea or nay.
And then to make this work, of course,
I have to find a power source
So current flows and slowly swells
The phone and watch’s charging cells.
Someday when this has all transpired,
I may get tired of being wired.
A TECH TRACK
On my wrist, I wear a smart watch.
There’s an iPhone in my pocket.
It seems I’m always plugging in
And charging at some socket.
All the hours of my days
Are tracked in cyberspace
So, I surmise, at my demise,
I’ll leave some kind of trace.
