Wildflowers
As children we would seek,on hillsides, fields, by our creek,
wildflowers for bouquets
to brighten Mother’s days.
Trilliums were found in shade,
violets hidden in glades,
red roses climbed fences,
fragrance delighting our senses.
White lilies were on high hills,
for Mother’s vases to fill.
We were humble, with pleasures few,
but wildflowers, Mother, bring thoughts of you.
