St. Patrick’s Day Dream

March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is here…

the time to turn our thoughts to dreams so grand,

to take the magic carpet of our minds

and fly across the sea to Ireland.

When we arrive, we’ll find a Leprechaun

to take us all around the Emerald Isle—

Mayo County to the Cliff Minawn,

where we can watch the restless sea a while.

Then on to Dublin and St. Stephen’s Green—

a lovely park along O’Connell Street.

In the pub, we hear the verbal art

of Irish playboys where they come to meet.

They fill the air with false reality,

exaggerating more than just a bit.

They use unreason most artistically

and revel in their fantasy and wit.

With our heads reeling from their talk, we leave…

meet some country folk along the way.

And never wearied by their Irish charm,

we pause to rest beside Killiney Bay.

Then all too soon, our dream comes to an end,

but first we stop to kiss the Blarney Stone

and take a Shamrock from this mystic land—

a place we’ll forever call our own.

Slainte (Cheers)
