This Valentine’s Day, take a romantic escape where “chocolate steals the show.” In Houston, Texas, for example, put Case Chocolates, the world’s first chocolate and cocktail speakeasy, at the top of your list. Your tasting experience features several flights of unique chocolates sourced from regions around the world, paired with high-end libations. These chocolates have a delightful surprise – liquor-infused centers that explode with a meld of flavors in just one bite.

On the East Coast, at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ, decadent experiences await. Every weekend throughout the winter season, the property’s pool deck has been transformed into a winter wonderland with heated igloos and indulgent “Chocuterie Sweet Boards.” Think chocolate salami, peanut butter swirl fudge, salted caramel truffles and the “Chocolate Fundoo,” an offering of marshmallows, madeleines, strawberries, cheesecake bites and more for dipping into warm, rich chocolate. Pair your treats with the Moondeck Hot Cocoa or the Polar Espresso Martini tree, made for sharing. Then complete your experience with one of the exclusive romantic packages at the hotel, featuring a stay in a luxurious suite, spa, food and beverage credits and more.

In Corning, NY, embark on the Gaffer District’s Chocolate Trail. Nestled in the heart of the city, the Gaffer District is a charming artistic hub. Stroll through the historic downtown, where a trove of chocolate treasures awaits, from handcrafted chocolates to chocolate cigars, martinis and other treats. Extend your stay with a night or two at the Gaffer Inn for a sweet getaway.

Williamsburg, VA gets in on the action, too. Here, history, romance and indulgence combine. Start at locally famous Wallace’s Fudge Factory for freshly made fudge, caramel apples, hand- dipped chocolates and the shop’s famous pretzel sticks dipped in fudge. Then, make your way to Wythe Candy & Gourmet Shop for its handmade confections and gourmet treats. If your sweet tooth still craves more, discover American Heritage Chocolate at The Shops at Colonial Williamsburg. These confections are made with all-natural spices like cinnamon and vanilla.

Head further south to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast to enjoy a weekend of chocolate bliss at the Carolina Chocolate Festival in Morehead City (Feb. 1-2). Over 25 of the finest chocolate vendors will be onsite for you to sample everything from chocolate truffles to mouth-watering fudge and more. And if you’re feeling the need for some exercise before indulging, participate in the 5k Cocoa RunWalk.

Santa Barbara is synonymous with romance. The “American Riviera” boasts world-class restaurants and plenty of exceptional properties, along with a vibrant wine scene. But it also has countless beloved chocolatiers, bakeries and other dessert establishments. At Menchaca Chocolate, enjoy one of the company’s Chocolate & Art Workshops. A special two-hour “Valentine’s Day Truffle & Heart Box Making Workshop” will have you rolling truffles and decorating a wooden chocolate box as a memory keeper. Hands-on experiences and wine and chocolate pairing events are also on deck at Twenty-Four Blackbirds, where single origin, handmade artisan chocolates are the stars.
