Sound Generations is celebrating examples of positive aging.

Is there an older adult in King County over the age of 60 who inspires you through their aging journey? Honor their impact with an Inspire Positive Aging Awards nomination!

Nominations for the 17th Annual Inspire Positive Aging Awards (IPAA) are officially open for submissions. All nominations must be received by April 5th, 2022 to be eligible for consideration.

The IPAA Luncheon celebrates and honors older adults across King County that exemplify positive aging. This year, Sound Generations will recognize recipients in the following six categories: Advocacy + Activism, Community Service, Health + Wellness, Intergenerational Impact, Lifelong Learning, and Defining Inspiration. For more, check out highlights from last year’s event on our YouTube Channel.

Ray Puddincombe was named the 2021 award-winner for the "Defining Inspiration" Award. Born 97 years ago in Tacoma, Washington, Ray was a WW2 Veteran, avid gardener, and incredible storyteller. He was warm and personable, always engaging audiences with his life’s stories and infectious laughter. Ray’s family and friends have learned a great deal about friendship, generosity, gardening and appreciating life, taking each day as it comes and finding joy in all that it has to offer. Sadly, Ray passed away before he could accept his award, but his message will live on through all those who have had the opportunity to cross paths with him.
