If you know where in Washington this photo was taken, you may win $100!

Hints and instructions on how to enter:

Hint #1: Bicyclists, floats, giant puppets, stilt walkers and many other colorful community-based ensembles take part in an annual parade that welcomes summer and is part of a weekend celebration.

Hint #2: If you look closely, you may notice that many of these bicyclists are naked under their layers of paint!

Hint #3: Your answer should provide the name of the yearly *in*famous parade or the quirky Seattle neighborhood where this annual event takes place.

LAST MONTH’S CONTEST

A colorful mural set amongst trees

We had many correct answers to last month’s WHERE IN WASHINGTON contest, including the winner, Ellen of Seattle. The photo featured the Seattle Center Mural Amphitheater, site of many memorable concerts, films, and other events. The mural behind the stage was commissioned for the 1962 World’s Fair. It was created by Paul Horiuchi, a Seattle-based artist considered to be part of the famous “Northwest School” of artists. At the time, the mural, which measures 60 feet by 17 feet, was billed as the largest artwork in the Pacific Northwest.

Ellen of Seattle was the winner of last month’s WHERE IN WASHINGTON contest. She sent this photo, explaining that she is a “Mariner Season Ticket holder for 35 years, so many of my photos are Mariner themed!”
