Great Tips to Improve Bone Health

As you get older, it is easier for your bones to become weaker. If you lose too much calcium in your bones, you are at risk of developing osteoporosis. The good news is that it is quite simple to improve your bone health at home.

Include Calcium In Your Diet

If you do not already include calcium in your diet, it is time to start. Adding calcium to your diet is one of the best and easiest ways to improve bone health. Examples of calcium rich foods to add to your diet include milk, yogurt, cheese and broccoli.

Quit Smoking

Do you smoke? If the answer is yes, you should seriously think about stopping right now. Smoking is terrible for your body. It does not just increase your risk of lung cancer; it can also decrease the amount of calcium in your body.

Do Strength Training Exercises

It is a good idea to start doing strength training exercises at least three days a week to make your bones stronger. For example, you can do lunges or squats on your living room floor. You could also try lifting weights to build up your arm strength.

Include Vitamin D in Your Diet

Vitamin D is something else you should include in your diet. This vitamin can improve the absorption of calcium into your system. Good sources of vitamin D include tuna, eggs and salmon.

Don’t Drink A lot of Alcohol

Alcohol can negatively affect your bone density, so you should not drink too much of it. To maintain optimal bone health, you shouldn’t drink more than two alcoholic beverages each day.

As you can see, it is easier than you think to improve bone health. If you follow these helpful tips, your bones are much more likely to stay strong and healthy.
