I had a birthday, yes, one more,

celebrated turning seventy-four.

Friends known since I was three,

more like lifetime sisters to me.

Remembering young days of fun,

swimming and playing in the sun.

Time has slowed down our pace,

gazing in eyes, I see a young face.

Driving home, I stop at the store,

need to buy supplies once more.

I roll a cart up and down the aisle,

buying treats that make me smile.

Full trunk, I carried bag after bag,

a slow walk, time seemed to drag.

So I tuned in music, loud dancehall,

rhythm in and out, party at the ball.

Bathroom paper, mega soft 12 = 48,

I waltz, “Prince Charmin”—fun date.

Our Charmin dancing to a new beat,

not stepped on by 402 square feet.
