CHRISTMAS 2016
HERE WE ARE. I WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU!
TO ME THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THIS YEAR
IS THAT YOU ARE STILL ON THIS SIDE OF THE GRASS
I KNOW WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN PARTICULAR PATH TO FOLLOW
COMPLETE WITH GOALS OF OUR OWN CHOOSING
AND THEN THERE’S THE BAGGAGE
THAT WE TOTE, DRAG, MUSCLE ALONG
MUCH OF IT OF OUR OWN CHOOSING
SO I WISH US ALL THE GIFT
OF LETTING GO OF OLD BAGGAGE
THAT CAN JUST BE SUCH A PAIN
IN THE NECK, BACK, PATOOTIE OR WHEREVER
AND TRAVELING ON INTO THE NEW YEAR
TOWARD THAT DEAR NEW GOAL
OF YOUR OWN BEST CHOICE
SO HERE WE ARE, ONE AND ALL
SO GOOD TO BE HERE STRAIGHT AND TALL
GUTS THAT WORK WELL AND LEGS THAT MOVE FREE
GOALS THAT ARE WORTHY TO BE THE BEST ME
AND THE BEST ADVICE I HAVE TO GIVE IS
KEEP THE MAIN THING
THE MAIN THING
HO HO HO
MERRY CHRISTSMAS TO ALL
AND A JOLLY OLD
PEPPERMINT STICK
Blessings, FRIEDA

SHARING STORIES is a weekly column for and about the 50 plus crowd living in the Puget Sound region. Send your stories and photos to ariele@comcast.net. Tell local or personal stories; discuss concerns around aging and other issues; share solutions, good luck, and reasons to celebrate; poems are fine too. Pieces may be edited or excerpted. We reserve the right to select among pieces. Photos are always a plus and a one-sentence bio is requested (where you live, maybe age or career, retired status, etc.).
SHARING STORIES is featured on www.northwestprimetime.com, the website for Northwest Prime Time, a monthly publication for baby boomers, seniors, retirees, and those contemplating retirement. The newspaper can be found in the greater Seattle area and other Puget Sound locations. For more information, call 206-824-8600 or visit www.northwestprimetime.com. To find other SHARING STORIES articles on this website type "sharing stories" in the search function above.
