Easy Budgeting with Bundled Holiday Gifts

The American tradition of “spend yourself into a big hole of debt every Christmas,” is quickly going out of style. In the last five years we have seen a healthy turn toward more frugal holiday spending and more meaningful gifts rather than more expensive.

Bundling gifts is a great way to stick to your budgeting plan while shopping for holiday gifts this year. A bundled gift is when you put together one gift than an entire family can enjoy, rather than buying individual presents for each member of that family. Bundled gifts can be a lot of fun, and also encourage the family to spend some time together using the gift.

There are a lot of bundled gift ideas, but one of the most versatile options is the family dinner gift basket. You can get as creative as you like with a gift like this. You can also customize the gift to perfectly fit a particular family’s tastes.

Family dinner gifts baskets usually center on a one pot type of meal, like chili, chicken pot pie, or home made vegetable soup. To assemble a family dinner gift basket, you would purchase one cooking dish that would be used in making the meal such as a large inexpensive pot. You would then gather the ingredients used for the meal. Arrange the ingredients nicely in the dish. Adding in a little something for dessert or a bottle of wine is a nice touch as well. Wrap the pot or dish in a big festive ribbon. You can also add a heartfelt note or letter to the family telling them why you are thankful for them this holiday season and explaining how you hope they will enjoy this dinner together and take time to enjoy one another’s company as well.
