The 3 Things to Prepare for the Best New Year’s Eve Party

The great ball drop in New York City has that larger than life appeal which attracts millions of visitors and millions of viewers every single year. But what is so bad about a nice evening indoors? There are thousands of ways to enjoy a wonderful evening with friends and family, and avoid the troubling and obnoxious crowds, as well as dangers, of the public New Year’s Eve.

But how do you set up a great event? There are few main ways to make an evening at the home special and memorable for everyone.

Snacks and Desert: Avoid the Big Meal Ticket

The most expensive thing about a New Year’s party, generally, is the food. There are two ways to avoid this. Have everyone bring over something nice to add to the dinner. If you want to avoid the time commitment and frustrations of cooking something extravagant, set the party later in the evening. This way, the majority of people have eaten before coming and you will have snacks and deserts available- which is a lot easier to prepare for and to clean.

Pre-plan the Entertainment: Music, Games, and Fun All Around

Sometimes, a party is made all the better with some unique activities, games, and concepts to keep things going. A conversation is fun, and there will always be people who just want to sit back and chat. but activities offer something to change the pace. These may include trivia games, board games, charades, and New Year’s Eve related activities. With a bigger budget (or a musician friend) you can even opt for a bit of music entertainment.

No Party is Complete without the Drinks

Make sure you have a bottle of the major drinks. These are vodka, whiskey, and gin. This allows people to make their own tailor-made cocktails. You can also encourage your guests to ” bring your own beer”. The party term BYOB, has collectively entered the public lexicon.

If you want to save money and be clever, make a custom drink. This may include a specific favorite cocktail of yours. This way, visitors feel engaged by your custom drink and the creativity behind it, but you are not pulling hair out buying mixes and drinks to appease everyone.
