Poems by Grandkids
As a first-year teacher at Providence Classical Christian School in Bothell Washington, I didn’t know where teaching poetry would lead me, much less our class. Because I had personally written so little poetry, not only did I fear teaching it, but I also underestimated the creativity and fun my students would have with writing poetry. The following pages will take the reader on a journey into the hearts and minds of twelve and thirteen-year-old students. The humor, the wit, the grandeur, and the depth of thought in these poems has only deepened my appreciation for poetry, but also has drawn me to love God and His children more deeply. My prayer for this compilation of poems is that it will inspire, draw laughter, and bring a greater appreciation for the insight and meditations of the younger generation. Happy reading!

LIMERICKS:
Usually funny, limericks have five lines. The first line end word rhymes with the second line and the last line end words, while the third and fourth end words rhyme only with each other. (The AABBA rhyme scheme)

Pretty Kitty
