17 Towns that are Offering Perks to Attract Retirees

Recent reporting by Sarah Whittle lists 17 towns that are offering perks to attract retirees.

Tulsa, Oklahoma has been working to create a retiree-friendly environment that includes affordable housing, low taxes and community programs designed for seniors. The city even has an incentive program that offers cash grants to new residents to help with moving costs.

The Villages in Floria, a well-known retirement community, provides discounts for new residents along with low property taxes. 

Bentonville, Arkansas, a small town that is also known as the headquarters of Walmart, is offering relocation assistance, tax incentives and affordable housing options to attract older adults. 

Morgantown, West Virginia is providing affordable housing, lower property taxes, top-rated medical facilities, and programs designed for seniors.

Knoxville, Tennessee offers tax-friendly policies, no state income tax and property tax relief programs for seniors.

Prescott, Arizona has introduced incentive programs for seniors including lower property taxes, senior recreational programs and moving assistance.

Traverse City, Michigan is offering property tax reductions, discounts for community and senior fitness programs.

Augusta, Maine is looking to attract retirees through incentives that include tax breaks, affordable housing, and community programs designed for seniors.

Pueblo, Colorado is offering reduced utility costs, tax breaks and affordable housing along with specialty programs designed for seniors.

Charles, South Carolina provides tax breaks, discounted senior services, and discounted senior services. 

Richmond, Virgina offers lower-than-average cost of living, tax breaks, senior-friendly housing options, and programs designed for seniors.

Boise, Idaho: New residents can take advantage of tax breaks, discounts, and senior services.

Athens, Georgia offers low property taxes, senior discounts on utilities, programs for retirees. 

Huntsville, Alabama is providing tax breaks and affordable housing programs for seniors.

Topeka, Kansas is on the list for generous incentives (that aren’t specified in the article).

Lexington, Kentucky is providing property tax discounts, affordable housing options, and discounts for seniors on local services. 

Biloxi, Mississippi is another town offering low property taxes, affordable housing and overall lower cost of living than average.
