There is still time to catch the play written by a local senior for senior actors, with a senior audience in mind. Strong Waters runs through February 3 at the 12th Avenue Arts Studio on Seattle’s Capitol Hill.

Strong Waters is about a retired actor and his recently divorced son, who share a tranquil life in a floating home community until an unexpected visitor arrives.

The new play by Claire Zaslove was written with actors of a certain age in mind. The play stars veteran actors Maureen Hawkins, Gordon Coffey and Bob De Dea. Seasoned theatergoers have probably seen these actors on stage at places like Seattle Rep, ACT, Intiman, Village Theatre and 5th Avenue.

The playwright, the actors and director, who are all “of a certain age,” got together to discuss ideas for the new play.

“We talked about what we thought was important; what an older audience would identify with,” says Maureen Hawkins. “We are a little troupe of determined old-timers,” she adds.
