It’s fun. It’s zany. It’s festive. For many people, it kicks off the holiday season.
Every December, the Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition takes place to raise awareness and funds to support the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank. This year, the competition takes place on December 2 from 6 to 9pm. For the first time, caroling teams will fill historic Pike Place Market with holiday music (rather than at the Westlake Center in downtown Seattle). The annual competition attracts nearly 10,000 spectators, along with 30 to 40 caroling teams. The teams participate in sing-off competitions for the “Figlanthropy Award” including the coveted People’s Choice Award.

“The Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank is thrilled that in 2022, The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition will bring holiday cheer to the Pike Place Market!” said Zoe Freeman, Programming and Member Services Manager of the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank and Head Figlet. “After producing the event on the streets of Downtown Seattle for 35 years we are bringing Figgy home to the Market. The Senior Center & Food Bank have offered services from the Market for 44 years. Now we will stage this crucial fundraiser right here on the cobblestones of our unique Market neighborhood. We thank the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority for partnering with us to make this happen. Since its inception, Figgy Pudding has raised over $1 million for the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank.
