I Dreamed I Died.

Brad & Ariele in Maui--another kind of euphoria.
| March 22, 2022

I dreamed I died. There was another person there. At first, it was a bit disconcerting, but as I moved around, I realized I was in a better space.

My arthritis was not bothering me; my anxiety had left me; I had a feeling of euphoria and so did my companion.

Of course, this being a dream…or any cheaply manufactured sitcom, this would not last.

We were told that one of us would have to come back to life and battle to the death. Okay, this is more the way my normal dreams go.

The trick was we both wanted to lose.

How do you fight someone to the death when both of you want to lose?

At least I did. I woke up.

Brad Huff is a lifelong Washington boy, coincidentally married to Ariele Huff who hosts Sharing Stories. He woke with this story to share.

SHARING STORIES is a weekly column for and about the 50 plus crowd living in the Puget Sound region. Send your stories and photos to ariele@comcast.net. Tell local or personal stories; discuss concerns around aging and other issues; share solutions, good luck, and reasons to celebrate; poems are fine too. Pieces may be edited or excerpted. We reserve the right to select among pieces. Photos are always a plus and a one-sentence bio is requested (where you live, maybe age or career, retired status, etc.).

SHARING STORIES is featured on http://www.northwestprimetime.com, the website for Northwest Prime Time, a monthly publication for baby boomers, seniors, retirees, and those contemplating retirement. For more information, call 206-824-8600 or visit http://www.northwestprimetime.com. To find other SHARING STORIES articles on this website type “sharing stories” in the search function above.
