Back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, seniors were especially hard-hit. Not only were they at higher risk from COVID, but many also became isolated when friends and family could not visit.
A team of high schoolers joined together to find a way to bring comfort to quarantined seniors. They came up with the idea of creating a hotline to record stories, inspirational messages and jokes for the seniors. The project, called “Joy 4 All,” was directed by the Calgary Board of Education. “…we’re just trying to fill in some of the gaps and bring them a little bit of joy and levity during these difficult times,” said teacher Jamie Anderson.
James Corden of CBS’s The Late Late Show connects with Jamie Anderson, the teacher whose class organized the project. He also invited actor and comedian Billy Crystal to pop in to record a few jokes of his own for the hotline.
