Covid-19 Cure?

Day by day, connect with some source of fun, joy, or delight…

humor on Youtube, Conan, Red Skelton, Jimmy Fallon on Tonight.

Best of all, connect with someone friendly to make laughter bright!

Playfully connect with others to create healthy joy and mirth.

The best spiritually uplifting medicine on earth,

it requires no chemical prescription or a surgical cure.

You don’t need honey or sugar to sweeten humor’s allure!

All that’s required is the sound of laughter,

powerful enough to shake the rafters with its rapture.

With help from others, create sublime mirth and joy,

merriment spiced for each girl and each boy.

Add enough pinches of glee, merriment, and, hilarity

to dissolve Covid-19’s doom and gloom with joviality.

With aid from others and this powerful good-humored mixture,

you’ll surely avoid becoming a cemetery fixture!

Bob Barta & Ariele Huff combined talents for this poem. Both are longtime Washington residents.

Bob adds, “Don’t forget to continue to use a face mask and practice other precautions to help stop Covid-19! Thank you.”

SHARING STORIES is a weekly column for and about the 50 plus crowd living in the Puget Sound region. Send your stories and photos to ariele@comcast.net. Tell local or personal stories; discuss concerns around aging and other issues; share solutions, good luck, and reasons to celebrate; poems are fine too. Pieces may be edited or excerpted. We reserve the right to select among pieces. Photos are always a plus and a one-sentence bio is requested (where you live, maybe age or career, retired status, etc.).

SHARING STORIES is featured on http://www.northwestprimetime.com, the website for Northwest Prime Time, a monthly publication for baby boomers, seniors, retirees, and those contemplating retirement. The newspaper can be found in the greater Seattle area and other Puget Sound locations. For more information, call 206-824-8600 or visit http://www.northwestprimetime.com. To find other SHARING STORIES articles on this website type “sharing stories” in the search function above.
