Kent 50 Plus program presents 6th Annual Jazz & Art Showcase

The 6th Annual Jazz & Art Showcase will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM at the Kent Senior Activity Center

KENT, Wash. – The Kent 50 Plus Program and the Kent Arts Commission are hosting the 6th Annual Jazz & Art Showcase on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith Street in downtown Kent. Families of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The event features outdoor concerts, art exhibits and demonstrations, a mocktail garden and boxed dinner/desserts compliments of Stafford Suites while supplies last.

Event seating is on a first come, first served basis. No tickets are required for concerts. Boxed dinner/desserts require tickets which will be distributed, one per person, beginning at 4:30 PM at the event. One boxed dinner/dessert will be exchanged for each ticket beginning at 5 PM.

The Kent Valley Artists’ exhibition and demonstration begins at 5 PM and is open for the duration of the event. Guests are invited to share a toast in the no-host “Mocktail Garden” on the patio. Any sized donations are welcome.

Jazz pianist Richard Dean plays indoors (4:30-5:15 PM and 6:15 to 7 PM). Outdoor concerts feature extraordinary electronic violinist Geoffrey Castle (5:15 to 6:15 PM) and renowned jazz saxophonist Darren Motamedy and his band (7 to 8 PM). Limited indoor concert seating is available; guests are asked to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas for outdoor seating.

In 2012, the Jazz and Art Showcase was the recipient of the Programs of Excellence Award from the National Council on Aging.

This event is offered free of charge due to a grant from the Kent Arts Commission and generous co-sponsorships from Stafford Suites and the Kent Reporter as well as Chateau Valley Center, Judson Park, Master Care In Home Service, Northwest Prime Time, Radcliffe Place, Regency Auburn, SHAG Housing, Talbot Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Visiting Angels of Renton and The Weatherly Inn.
