Coat Drive Helps Seattle Area People in Need Stay Warm

Foundation House at Northgate in Seattle is teaming up with One Warm Coat to collect warm coats for those in need from December 1 through 20

Seattle Retirement Community Foundation House at Northgate and One Warm Coat® are warming communities one coat at a time

While the need for warm coats has never been greater, it has also never been easier to meet this vital need in our community. Foundation House at Northgate, a not-for-profit retirement community offering independent and assisted living, invites area residents to join them in an effort to ensure that no one goes without a warm coat this winter.

Foundation House at Northgate is holding a warm coat drive and will be collecting clean, gently used warm coats. ‘One Warm Coat’ – a national non-profit organization – is dedicated to collecting and distributing gently used warm coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The coat drive program provides an easy way for individuals and families to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors by simply passing along coats and jackets that are no longer needed.

Bring your clean, gently used coats and jackets to Foundation House at Northgate, 11301 3rd Ave NE in Seattle from December 1-20th between 8am and 6:30pm (located just north of Target.) The process is simple: you drop off your extra coats, Foundation House takes care of the rest. All donated coats will be given to St. Vincent de Paul for distribution to local people in need.

“So many of our neighbors need help these days,” commented Jennifer Stockard, president of ‘One Warm Coat.’ We are proud to work with and support each one of our coat drive organizers. The time and energy they give to help their neighbors proves that we can warm communities one coat at a time,” she adds. “We collected more than 100 coats last year and we’re hoping to beat that number this year. Our residents, their friends, family and the North Seattle community are incredibly kind and giving,” said Pamela Williams, Marketing Director at Foundation House at Northgate.

One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that supports and encourages coat drives. It helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute the coats free to people in need. More than four million coats have been provided to those in need at no cost since its inception in 1992.
