How to make money online: Etsy, eBay, Craigslist and more

Many small businesses start up and function solely by using sales channels like Etsy, eBay and Craigslist.

When you start up a company today, one outlet for possible success that should be considered is making money online. Owning your own business means you can take into consideration any and all sources that are available for potential profit. Many small businesses start up and function solely by using sales channels like Etsy, eBay and Craigslist.

No matter what you are marketing, these websites can help you get started or get a boost in sales. If you have handmade items, or items that are older than 20 years old, check out Etsy.com. This website is similar to other well-known auction websites but focuses on crafts, handmade items and “antiques” that are of a certain age. Perhaps the best known website for auctioning off products and services is eBay. Craigslist is another option for resale, but it is used typically for selling items in a local geographic area rather than nationwide or globally.

All these websites can be used as needed, and the processes for selling online are similar. You register, create your profile and use a money exchange website like PayPal to facilitate fast payments. You can accept checks or money orders on most auction websites also, but using PayPal is nice because you have a ready track record for sales and some payment guarantees and protection for buyers.

Once your items are listed, all you need to do is write some good copy, upload a decent photo and wait for a buyer. When the sale is completed and your money secure, you deliver the item to your buyer. Most people will also post some type of feedback online regarding the buyer/seller responses.

Many larger companies began as small online auction stores. Start up a company in minutes, as long as it takes to register and post an item. Staying successful requires good business practices; you can learn small and then grow bigger making money online. Give it a try today!
