Can my cell phone get a virus?

Avoid viruses on cell phones and with virus protection.

Does my computer have a virus? If you have asked yourself this question before, then you are well aware that electronics that allow access to the internet are vulnerable to such issues. This being said, have you ever considered the fact that your cell phone may be able to get a virus as well?

According to ITWorld.com, there are over 200,000 apps on the market that are available to consumers today. With all of this new technology and high tech apps comes the need for personal information about you so that you get the most from the app. Unfortunately, not all apps are actually who or what they claim to be and can contain malware that can be damaging.

Malware can be embedded into an app that can cause viruses on cell phones. The malware in these mobile apps can actually wipe data from your phone, steal your personal information, and even dial or text numbers that can rack up your cell phone bill without you even knowing. If the app happens to have spyware attached, it can even listen to your conversations; determine your location, read your private texts and emails, and more.

So how can you protect yourself from viruses on cell phones? Just as you would protect your computers with anti-virus software, there is virus protection that is specifically made for your smartphone that can be downloaded as well. You can also avoid viruses on cell phones by only using reputable apps that are known to be safe and free from viruses.

Now that you have the facts, you are tech savvy enough to know that you should be asking not only does my computer have a virus, but does my smartphone have one, too? Take the necessary precautions to protect your computer and smartphone and you can avoid the headaches associated with viruses on your electronic devices for good and have peace of mind knowing your personal information is safe and sound.
