CARNATION, WA (June 8, 2012) – Camp Korey, a non-profit dedicated to providing free, recreation programs for children with serious and life-altering medical conditions, has doubled its capacity and can now serve more than 3,000 campers and families. On Saturday, June 9, 2012, Camp Korey will celebrate and host its first Founder’s Day at the Hippodrome on the upper campus of Camp Korey on Carnation Farm from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The “Raise the Pillow Project” supported the expansion of Camp Korey by collecting 128 sets of twin sheets, pillow cases and mattress pads for the camp. Supporters included Duvall and Bellevue Rotary, Wyndham, Sobel Westex, National Charity League, local schools and community members.
The celebration will honor Founder and President, Tim Rose and give thanks to the families, donors and volunteers who contribute to the Camp’s success. Rose founded Camp Korey in 2005 with his family to honor his son, Korey Rose by creating a safe haven for children with serious medical issues and their families.
“Founder’s Day is a chance for us to acknowledge not only our incredible Founder, Tim Rose, but all who have been a part of our extraordinary journey,” said Executive Director, Hillary Carey. “We’ve grown leaps and bounds since opening our doors in 2008, serving 64 children our first summer to more than 3,000 children and families planned this year.”
“We are thrilled to be kicking off our fifth summer of programming,” said Founder, Tim Rose. “Our growth and success has only been possible through the generosity and selflessness of our volunteers, community groups, individual and corporate supporters, board members, and staff. We are continually amazed by the philanthropic community that surrounds us and grateful to be here in the Pacific Northwest.”
The Founder’s Day festivities will include: lawn games, activities and live music. A check presentation from the Duvall Rotary Club to Camp Korey will take place at 12:45 p.m. prior to Founder’s Day activities on the upper part of the campus in recognition of the Camp’s newly doubled capacity and the “Raise the Pillow Project” this spring.
