Wesley Homes Extends Community Reach

Bernie Dorsey has joined Wesley Homes Retirement Communities and Health Services as the Director of Outreach. Dorsey’s primary focus is Wesley Homes Home Health.

As the Director of Outreach, Dorsey will raise visibility, build relationships and inform the public about the services Wesley Homes provides. “My ultimate goal is outreach for all of Wesley Homes,” said Dorsey, “and I’m starting with the growth of Wesley Homes Home Health.”

To “Grow and Expand Our Services” is one of the Five Big Goals of Wesley Homes. The other goals are: Be the Provider of Choice, Be the Employer of Choice, Be Financially Sound and Live the Mission of Wesley Homes.

Dorsey has lived in South King County for 45 years. He has close ties to Des Moines, where Wesley Homes’ administrative offices are located. His years of community involvement include the Des Moines school board and PTA; board member of Matt Griffin YMCA and Highline Hospital; Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence and commodore of Three Tree Point Yacht Club. Dorsey is also the founder of Conscious Fathering, a nationwide program that teaches expectant fathers how to parent, and the co-founder of Keep Kids Safe, a Washington State license plate program that raises money to prevent child abuse.

“I’m always out in the community in my personal life; outreach fits my personality. Now I have this as my career, and I couldn’t be happier,” said Dorsey. “Wesley Homes has a great reputation. Everyone speaks highly of them. I’ve worked with people in the younger stages of life. Now I get to contribute to older adults through Wesley Homes. That’s very appealing to me.”

Established in 1944 and affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church, Wesley Homes operates two retirement communities and a home health agency. Wesley Homes Des Moines is a continuing care retirement community offering Cottage homes, apartments, assisted living and skilled nursing. Wesley Homes Lea Hill in Auburn offers Village Homes, apartments and memory care. Wesley Homes Community Health Services provides home health services to clients throughout the Puget Sound region.
