Simply visit the Social Security website, http://www.ssa.gov, and click on the “Apply Online for Retirement Benefits” link on the home page. It takes about 15 minutes and you are all set. As an added benefit, when you file for Social Security benefits online within four months of turning 65, your Social Security application will also be used to receive the Medicare benefits, which begins at the age of 65.
