Seeking romance? Consider South America

Paying the mortgage, filling your tank with heating oil, or caring for your yard fall into the category of “things to do.” Conversely, particularly as we get a bit “long in the tooth” (or begin to miss some of our favorite teeth), romance often becomes more of a memory than a happening event. Be aware, however, that you can do something about it.

While there are many romantic locations throughout the U.S., South America is affordable and a proven spark generator for romance. Brazil is the unofficial “flagship” of fun and romance, but other countries also encourage romantic visits. Consider some options to inject fun, excitement and romance into your life. Isn’t it about time to enjoy a thrilling living experience?

For example, Argentina offers a large menu of wonderful options. Northern Patagonia (the Lake District) includes adventurous scenery with lakes, national parks and the beautiful city of San Carolos de Bariloche. You and your companion may also enjoy Mendoza Province, home of the wine region. If you prefer more sophistication and a European feel, you will love Buenos Aires, famous home of the Tango. If your romantic vision focuses on history, you may find romance in San Telmo, with its cobblestone streets and elegant 19th century mansions.

Chile shares the Patagonia region with Argentina, along the southern area of the majestic Andes Mountains. While Tierra del Fuego, at Chile’s southern tip might be a romantic “stretch” for you, other regions along the coast, abutting the Pacific Ocean, offer culture, adventure, and romance to visitors. Since the primary attractions for tourists are naturally beautiful locations, romance often follows.

If you believe Brazilians celebrate the opening of an envelope, you are correct. Yet, at the top of their celebratory list is romance and fun. Much like native Italians, Brazilians glorify the importance of romance, excitement and celebration and see them as critical secrets of a long and happy life. While Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo garner most of the headlines, other parts of the country will also spark your romantic leanings.

Rediscover and celebrate romance in South America. You will be thrilled you did.
