“IMAGINE KING AND QUEEN GOSPEL DUET”

I awoke hearing old news Elvis died August 16th 1977,

a memory in time slipping into Elvis Is King tee shirt.

At work that day Elvis sang at the gates of heaven.

Tuned radio-waves for Greatest Hits hearing an alert.

A sad announcement August 16th this year 2018.

Of all days in all of time a cymbal chimed regret—

Aretha touched earthly hearts magical Soul Queen.

Coral sunset imagine Elvis and Aretha gospel duet.

Records spun heartbeats music mysterious ways,

freeway traffic rolled a slow and go creep.

Memories thank your songs voicing younger days,

Aretha’s songs play nonstop no beep-beep.

I transported to a happy youthful time,

Women sang R.E.S.P.E.C.T in our prime.
