Many people have set new words to old tunes. Here’s a new version of the Twelve Days of Christmas. (Any readers who want to try their hands at re-doing this, please send me a copy to share with others! ariele@comcast.net)

12 Days of Christmas according to Marguerite Sailer

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me two wet hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me three loaves of French bread, two Wet Hens, and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree,

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me four Chick- a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me eight Kids a screaming, seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me

nine Lambs a bleating, eight Kids a screaming, seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me ten Red Apples, nine Lambs a bleating, eight Kids a screaming, seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick- a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me eleven Flutes Fluting, ten Red Apples, nine Lambs a bleating, eight Kids a screaming, seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick a Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me twelve Fiddles Fiddling, eleven Flutes Fluting, ten Red Apples, nine Lambs a bleating, eight Kids a screaming, seven Ducks a quacking, six Butterflies, five Yellow Daises, four Chick-a-Dees, three loaves of French Bread, two Wet Hens and a Turtle Dove in a pear tree.
