QB merry-go-round: Hasselbeck to Titans, McNabb with Vikings
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Free agent Matt Hasselbeck is headed to the Tennessee Titans and Donovan McNabb was poised to be traded to the Minnesota Vikings, as National Football League teams lined up their quarterbacks with the lockout over. Hasselbeck, who played the last 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and took them to the 2005 Super Bowl, has worked out a multi-year deal with the Titans, the NFL Network reported on Wednesday.
NY Jets retain free agent Holmes, Panthers keep Williams
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two of the most coveted free agents were locked up by their own teams on Wednesday as the Jets reached agreement with wide receiver Santonio Holmes and the Panthers moved to keep running back DeAngelo Williams . Holmes, a former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player while with Pittsburgh, agreed to a five-year deal worth nearly $50 million with $24 million guaranteed, the NFL Network reported, citing a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

Brewers' All Star Weeks bound for DL with ankle injury
CHICAGO (Reuters) - All Star second baseman Rickie Weeks appears headed for the disabled list after injuring his left ankle during Milwaukee's 2-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. The Brewers infielder appeared to turn the ankle while running to first base in the second inning and was unable to put any weight on it when helped off the field.
Soni charges into 200m breaststroke semis
SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Olympic champion Rebecca Soni charged into the semi-finals of the 200 meters breaststroke with a blistering qualifying time at the world swimming championships in Shanghai on Thursday. Soni, who won the 100 breaststroke title on Tuesday, clocked two minutes 23.30 seconds, more than two and a half seconds faster than second-placed Rikke Pederson of Denmark.
Angels' Santana tosses no-hitter against Indians
CLEVELAND (Reuters) - Los Angeles Angels pitcher Ervin Santana pitched the third no-hitter of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season when he collected 10 strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday. Santana raised his arms to the air and was mobbed near the mound by team mates after he got Michael Brantley to fly out to center field for the game's final out.
